MESOPOTAMIAN RAPSODY

Dance of Music and Scent: MESOPOTAMIAN RAPSODY!

I have always been interested in scents. Since childhood, I was very interested in perfumes, colognes and flower scents. I always saved my pocket money and bought perfume. When I grew up and became famous, I had a huge fragrance and perfume collection at home. While people collect rosaries, precious stones, toy cars or other things according to their interests, I also collected scents. I started collecting all the perfumes and colognes produced in the world and made a fragrance collection. Despite this huge collection of scents, my search for scents has never ended.

While I was going to and from my hometown, Mardin, I saw that my relatives and villagers there were constantly expecting something from me. This expectation was not likely to be solved with the help I provided within the short-term possibilities. I could read the expectation in the mothers' eyes, "You succeeded, you saved yourself, help our children to be saved as well." However, I was a vocal artist and I couldn't do much.

One spring morning, while visiting the hills and mountains in my village in Mardin, I came across a wild rose, I sat next to it and smelled it for a long time. It smelled so beautiful and so natural that it blew my mind. I was very impressed that there was such a beautiful smelling rose in this land. When I returned to the village, not knowing what to do, and saw the young people waiting there, the idea of resurrecting Mesopotamian Roses and Anatolian Roses came to me like an inspiration.

I didn't tell anyone about this idea at first. I thought long and hard that day and that night. Could it be? Could this place turn into a land of roses? Could there be a job opportunity for these young people? Could it turn into a scent paradise for me too? In the morning of that day, I invited all the young people to breakfast, and we had a long village breakfast. Then I said, I want to plant roses here, my dream is to resurrect the Mesopotamian Roses. I want to turn this place into a rose paradise. What is your idea, will you work on it, will you support it, can we succeed?

When I saw the sparkle and sparkle in the young people's eyes, I believed that I definitely had to do this job.

We were going to start by planting roses. This was a long process and required patience and effort. I determined 600 acres of land. We planted roses in most of it and lavender in the rest. Most of the young people and women in the village started working in the rose business. I suddenly entered a big industry. We completed the planting process with great effort and patience. We suffered a lot. Finally that day came and we harvested our first roses. We were very happy.

Over time, I had to mortgage all the investments I had, even the house I lived in, and increase the investment. Because planting roses was not enough, it was necessary to build a factory. I established the factory in the village. Establishing processing facilities was as important as planting roses, but more laborious. I encountered countless obstacles in this process, but I did not give up and continued on my way. Finally, the work of establishing a factory is completed and after three years of rose revenue, it can now be processed; We had marketable products with oil, essence and water.

DANCE OF NOTES WITH SCENT!

The world of scent is a very different world. It is a very close analogy with music, which is why it always fascinates me. It is the essences that make up a perfume and it is important how long the effect of these essences lasts. The characteristics of scents are also shaped accordingly. This is where fragrance notes are needed. Notes are categorized according to the volatility of the essences.

There are three basic notes that make up a perfume. These are called top, middle and bottom notes. A person can decipher what makes up the scent he or she is impressed with by learning these notes.

WHERE IT ALL BEGINS: THE TOP NOTE

The top note is where everything starts. We attach great importance to this. In the fragrance literature, the top note is not taken into consideration as it leaves an effect for a few minutes. But after the human nose smells a scent for a few minutes, it recognizes it and stops smelling it. That's why this is actually the base note. The top note consists of very volatile and low-intensity essences. People are advised not to pay attention to this note when choosing a perfume, but I say that the one who can smell the top note will then figure out the personality of the scents.

A HEART BEATING FOR LOVE: MIDDLE NOTE

The note that reveals the full scent of a perfume is the middle note. This is not the smell of the perfume when it is first applied, but the effect it leaves after smelling it. The scent of a perfume we smell when we enter an environment or the perfume scent left by someone passing us is the exact middle note of that perfume. The effect of the middle note can last for more than an hour.

THE DIDICULOUS POINT: THE BOOTH NOTE

The success of a scent depends on its settling on the skin. An hour after the scent settles on the skin, the middle note says goodbye and is replaced by the bottom note. If the bottom note smells, this scent is the magnificent sound of a musical piece. The strongest essences in terms of intensity and permanence are placed in the base note. The base note is the permanence of that scent and its effect should last for 24 hours. The base note determines the personality and peak of the scent.

BERDAN MARDINI SCENTS: THE RACE OF MUSIC AUTHORS!

To combine music and scent, I finally realize this idea that has been echoing in my head. The rhythm of music, its all-encompassing feature that surrounds life, and the modes in music. Hicaz, Saba, Uşşak, Nihavend, Segah, Hümayun, Neva, Muhayyer, Hüseyni, Rast. I produced perfumes by extracting these modes and their harmony with the notes in the world of scent. My dream came true and the BERDAN MARDİNİ perfume brand was born. I named each perfume family after a maqam and presented it to fragrance lovers.

SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT SCENT!

My fragrance adventure will never be complete. Because I'm always looking for the perfect scent. When searching for the perfect scent, it's important to know where to start. There are hundreds, perhaps thousands, of scents in nature. If you're not familiar with fragrance notes, it can be quite difficult to figure out which scents you like.

I first created a scent wheel and created scent families with a team specialized in this field. The scent wheel shows people what the smell that comes suddenly in nature, in the city, in the kitchen of a restaurant, or in a spice shop is, and to which scent family it belongs. If I were to explain a little about the scent wheel and its main families, I can summarize it as follows:

WHAT IS THE SCENT WHEEL?

The scent wheel is a round wheel that divides scents into families and shows their subfamilies. It classifies odors, shows which odors are related to each other, and reveals their differences. It determines the scents that limit each other and reduce their effect, and the scents that are distant from each other.

Fragrance families are divided into four main categories:
